On Sunday, the Nowra Golf Club played its last Championship round for this year. It was safe to say that there were a few members out there with some last round jitters. Those who used yesterday’s, what’s called the ‘moving round’ managed to make the final eight for Sunday’s graded final.

The successful players on Saturday who have done well from the start featured well in the third round. The Captain, Col Lott made mention of the excellent work done by the green-staff at the Saturday Presentations. A big thankyou to Greg and Marg Jennings for sponsoring Saturday’s event.

The winners in ‘A’ grade with some consistent play were Col Stubbs and Tony Hosler who shared first and second after c/b with 76/63 for Col and 73/63 for Tony. Andrew Bradley held onto third with a solid 71/64. Long drive went to Mark Panopoulos and Andrew Bradley was good for the drive/pitch 3rd hole.

Neil Dinnie has pulled out all stops to ensure a win in ‘B’ grade with another remarkable result which is worthy of a true ‘A’ grader. His 76/62 made the win easy with a three shot buffer to second. Bill Carey impressed with an 84/65 for second and Col Reeve was good for third with his 84/66. The long drive to Jason Jay. Graeme Wearne was good for the drive/pitch at the 11th.

The mid-week Stableford, being end of month had a 2BBB in conjunction and as is usually the way those who feature in the grade win will always get up in the 2BBB. The winners of the 2BBB were Peter Marynowsky and Graeme Wrightson with 50 pts. Runners-up with 48 pts were Peter Brown and Maurie Bruce.

The winner of ‘A’ grade with a par round was Graeme Wrightson with an amazing 46 pts. Martin Daly picked the wrong day to bring in a solid 42 pts, and then have to take second place. Third went to Maurie Bruce with 40 pts.

Trevor Kanaar avoided the c/b to take first in ‘B’ grade with his 39 pts. The minor places were decided on c/b with Ron Rice tossing Col reeve. Both players scoring 38 pts. Sunday, and it’s all over for another year winners are grinners and those that didn’t make it, well there is always next year. The Club Champion for this year is Mark Panopoulos for the first time after several attempts. Congratulations Mark! The ‘B’ grade winner was Neil Dinnie and the ‘C’ grade winner was Cameron Stubbs.

All results should be available for those interested at the club. If I attempt to include here, then they would not make the paper due to shortage of space. Take care JH
