Theskipping fund raiser culminated in a series of heath health events at the school on Friday.

The school has raised almost$12,000.

Five-year-old student JacobMcLachlanhas now become the fourthhighest individual fundraiser in Australia and first in the NT with $3156.37 raised.

The school record was previously held by Alice Springs with$9108.80 raised in 2002.

Dr P.J. Spafford spoke to theschool assembly on Friday about heart health.

The Happy Heart mascot was greeted with cheers by students which included a series of events involving hurdles and even sack races.

Students even raised money so they couldbuy water bombs so they could pelt principal John Cleary in another event scheduled for today.

More than 350 students have been skippingto raise funds over the past month.

The much loved Heart Foundation event is aimed at promoting cardiovascular health, fitness and knowledge while raising funds to combat health disease.

With one in four Australian children being overweight or obese and more than 80 per cent not active enough, it’s more important than ever for students to get involved in physical activity at school.

Australia’s number one killer remains, heart disease

Following the success of last year’s preschool class fundraising effort of $3534, this year the school successfully aimedto do bigger and better with the whole school participating in Friday’s event.

More than 90 per cent of all Australian schools, involving eight million children, have participated in this fun and active program.

Each year jump rope attracts more than 300,000 students, in more than 1300 schools, with more than 500,000 sponsors.
